Tony Kearon - the right person for the job.
Tony Kearon - the right person for the job.

Thank you to over 67,000 Staffordshire Residents who voted for me to be Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Staffordshire.

Congratulations to Ben Adams for his election as Commissioner.  He has a big job ahead of him, not least if he intends to tackle the many issues raised during the campaign by Staffordshire residents.

I’m not going anywhere – I will continue to campaign on the issues I fought my campaign on, I will continue to ask the difficult questions that Staffordshire residents want answers to.

  • I will continue to fight for a visible police presence to our communities – this remains a priority.
  • I will continue to fight for a genuine increase in police numbers for Staffordshire until we get a fair share of funds to take Staffordshire back at least to 2010 levels.
  • I will continue to fight for a properly funded Fire and Rescue service for Staffordshire, with the right training, equipment and powers to be able to keep us all safe and cope with emerging challenges.
  • I will continue to fight for proper investment in police staff and fire service staff who do essential work behind the scenes to free up front-line police officers and firefighters.
  • I will campaign against league tables and performance indicators and all of the box ticking exercises – we improve our police and fire services by investing in them, not by filling in forms.
  • I will continue to fight to defend the independence and humanitarian role of the fire service.
  • I will continue to work to support victims, and to stop people becoming victims in the first place.
  • I will work with Staffordshire Police  and Fire Service pensioners to fight for justice, a decent pension and a dignified retirement in the face of penny pinching and bad faith.
  • I will work with people of good will across Staffordshire to push for action and real change on the issues of concern for residents – whether its about pollution, smells and environmental safety, whether its road safety, isolation of rural communities and business and rural crime, the challenges faced by our young people, or the countless other issues that are impacting on communities, that MATTER, and MUST be taken seriously.
